Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented known failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
