A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a considerable total for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The track features a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The team running the project have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
