Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
