Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-year spell featuring continental glory and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies roles in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would welcome the idea of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead any other side in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means I might decide in a few years, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on what circumstances would need to occur to bring him back to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, but sitting in a restaurant with the players having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments that took the title in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea that it might signal a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, excellent performer. This is a well-built thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. The Portugal international was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling in July.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the dressing room without him in it. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A profound tragedy for his teammates too. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Overwhelming.”
