The 'Breaking Bad' Creator Discloses He Has a Plan for How Pluribus Will Conclude... Currently.

The creative mastermind did not foresee that the Apple TV+ show would emerge as a massive hit. “The viewers have been incredible,” Gilligan says. “I was surprised by the show being as widely discussed as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”

With the first season of the acclaimed program wrapping up—and Season 2 greenlit and underway—the writers' room reflected on the audience reaction and whether it will impact the future direction of Pluribus.

Regarding the Incredible Fan Response

Anyone might to get distracted by the rampant praise and online debates surrounding Pluribus. He is making a conscious effort to avoid both.

“It's like being force fed something incredibly sweet and being in a state of bliss,” he says. “It's amazing, but I hear about it from others, and that's intentional. I have never searched for my own name online, nor do I ever intend to. It's not a lack of interest. It's a rabbit hole I know I would disappear down and then I'd be pooping in a five gallon bucket from Home Depot and I'd be stuck in my living room.”

Regardless of his concerted efforts, there’s it's impossible to ignore the extremely enthusiastic response to the series. The best he and his team can do is to accept it graciously and try not to let it alter the course of the show.

“We make no attempt to adjust our writing,” says co-executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The narrative we craft is not impacted by online forums.”

“Better to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan adds.

The Big Question: Has the creator Know the Conclusion of Pluribus?

Given that Gilligan and his team aren't taking cues by public opinion, does that mean they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? In short yes… in a way.

“There are some interesting ideas about the ultimate destination,” Gilligan says. “yet we stand ready to discard a solid concept for a better idea. That philosophy has guided us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We scrap ideas when we find a more perfect path and I suspect we'll be doing that.”

Alternatively, if plans fall through, Gordon Smith has a rather amusing idea to use as a backup.

“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll reveal the snow globe and that's where they've been all along,” Smith jokes, “though the idea hasn't gained traction.”

Then again, why mess with the classics?

“I want Carol to open her eyes with Bob Newhart there,” he jokes.

Pluribus can be watched on the streaming service.
