Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
