Trump Calls Families of Attacked Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

White House Call

The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and halt issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
